What to give the God who has everything
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and woshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11, KJV)
Kerry said she would be willing to stand in line all day just to get all the gifts she 'needed' for her family. No matter the cost, she said she had to get them all. According to Kerry, nothing thrills her more than to see the excitement on the faces of everyone to whom she presented a gift. To her, Christmas was 'only' about the gifts.
As the years go by, it appears more and more that Christmas has lost and conitnues to lose its true meaning. Stores open round the clock and businesses expect to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in profits while consumers promise to shop till they drop. But how many of us are willing to stand in line as long as possible to present our gifts to the King of Kings? And how much are we willing to spend to show our gratitude to our Lord? Are we bent on getting him the best, the finest, the gift of all gifts?
This and every Christmas season, God requires that we follow the footsteps of the three wise men: he wants that we pursue him, seek him out, come before him surrendering and submitting our hearts and souls while allowing him to have our most prized possessions, the things we treasure most. The gift our Father wants this Christmas may cost you some friends and even family along the way, may cause you to be demoted or lose your positions. All of which He promises to restore. This Christmas season God wants YOU. Give Him your all and your Christmas season will indeed be Merry.
Merry Christmas!
